As the proud owner of 13 dogs, my steamer is my best friend. The Haan is the best I've used (and I think I've tried them all). The head is larger than most, it's quiet and my floors are really clean. It's easy to get underneath furniture and along baseboards. The pads are textured and very efficient. I also purchased the short handle and used it on my mirrored closet doors. It did a great job. If it turns out to have a longer life than others I've owned I'll be thrilled. I found that most of the steamers (even the very expensive imports) don't last very long.Get more detail about Haan FS20-Plus 800-Watt Steam Cleaning Floor Sanitizer with Deluxe Sanitizing Tray.

This is my second Eureka 4700D vacuum. The first one, only 2 years old was unrepairable. The design is flawed at the beater bar. You can't clean the hair and thread from the bearing area. The bar ended up melting the plastic holder near the belt assembly. These are light weight and medium duty vacuums good enough for general household project. My wife likes it better than our other more powerful vacuum because its light and smaller.

The filtering system is easy to clean and the paper filters work well and last a long time. I noticed the hose that wraps on top of the handle gets stretched and begins to droop. It still works correctly - just droops over the handle. Still a good value.Get more detail about Eureka 4700D Maxima Bagless Upright Vacuum.

Pros:
- good suction and cleaning power on carpet
- sense of satisfaction seeing the clean bagless chamber fill with dirt and debris

Cons:
- Poor build quality on dirt canister, broke after 6 months
- overly short power cord
- floor brush head does not stop spinning when attachment tools are in use

Having 2 more feet on the power cord would have been nice. I don't have a problem with the weight of the vacuum, or the noise level. But I'm very irritated with the build quality of the machine, especially with the dirt canister, which is apparently engineered with build quality flaws. The canister filter seems to do its job, but is very labor intensive. I literally have to wash the thing off after each use, and they're about $15 to replace, so I don't want to do that very often. After about the second time of use, the button that controls the bottom hatch that you're supposed to push to free the debris from the canister stopped functioning, and then I was forced to pull open the top door of the canister and bang the contents out in the trash can, which is very messy. I have to do this outside or in the garage to avoid a dust cloud going all over. Also, after 6 months of this problem, the lever on the top of the canister just snapped, which made emptying the canister very very difficult. The nearest warranty center is 30 miles away, and when I phoned them they told me I would have to wait a month for the part. At least my vacuum functions with the part broken but what if it didn't? I can't be without a vacuum for a month. I finally got in touch with Hoover customer service, had to be transferred to a few different departments, and was told the canister isn't covered under warranty, and that I would have to pay $41 to get a new one...but hey, they would pay for the shipping. Of course the junky canister isn't covered under warranty. If only my last vacuum (Orek) had better suction power for my dog hair I would never had gotten rid of it. I have two regrets with this Hoover; first, I should have bought the vacuum at a local big box store, so I would have an easy place to return it; second, I wish I would have bought the Eureka 4870MZ Boss instead; it appears to be made better.

This vacuum cleaner does a good job of sucking up lint, dustballs, and other miscellaneous items from our carpet and tile floors. We have 4 kids, and they make a mess! So we need a good vacuum that is going to be a workhorse, and the windtunnel does the job. I don't like having to change the bag, and it is a bit heavy to lug up and down 3 flights of stairs, otherwise I would have given it a 5 star review. As far as functionality, no complaints at all. It has proven to be durable and still works well after seeing a lot of use in our house.Get more detail about Hoover U6485900 Windtunnel Anniversary Self-Propelled Bagged Upright Vacuum Cleaner.

This is the best deep cleaning solution I've used. I have three dogs and care for my daughters two dogs. I also garden, so let me tell you, I have dirt and lots of paws to track it in, as well as accidents. My carpets looked great after shampooing with this product. I have had one for about 3 months now. It works fine and I love not having a bag to replace or a cord to wind up (this one retracts into the vacuum). It's a bit hard to push on the carpet, though. So overall, I give it a good rating.

What really surprised me was the $299 price tag. I paid $95 and got free shipping from Amazon in July (09). Who jacked up the price since then and why?Get more detail about Hoover 5507-900 Elite Auto-Rewind Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner.

I ordered this and it arrived very quickly. It looks well made and I tried it out and it produced steam quickly and worked pretty good. Not as well as I had hoped, but maybe I wanted too much from it. I guess maybe I'll have to break down and actually scrub all the soap scum out of my bathtub by hand.Get more detail about Electric Steam Cleaner.

Okay, after reading all the reviews (and my daughter has one), I found the Shark pocket steam mop at Kohls on sale, plus a 20% off coupon and free shipping. Total cost shipped was $97 dollars.
Easy peezy to assemble (didn't have to read instructions). Steams like crazy, I'm surprised about folks complaining you have to pump the handle to get it to steam enough, maybe they have a defective mop? Cleaned my kitchen vinyl great, cleaned the tile in the bathroom and foyer great. No big deal.
The big thing was my dog room. I have 11 dogs on a vinyl floor and they can make a mess. I use an industrial mop and bucket with bleach (and the smell of the bleach gives me a horrible headache)! So, I put the dogs out, swept the floor and started steaming. What a difference! This thing is awesome!
I only gave it four stars cause I think it is very flimsy and will break easily. I won't be using it on a regular basis in the dog room because of this.
For my kitchen, bathroom and foyer this steam mop is great, much better than the mop and bucket and certainly better than cleaning with a majic eraser on my hands and knees.
I will update this review if I have any problems with it.Get more detail about Euro-Pro Shark S3501 Deluxe Steam Pocket Mop.

I bought my Hoover Linx recently and I'm very happy to report this little vac is a wonder. Its very easy to assamble and operate, has great sucction and stores in a small place. My only complaint is the battery life. Yes, it doesn't last long enough to go through my entire 1800 Sq ft home. I'm still happy with the purchase and don't mind so much having to recharge to complete the job.Get more detail about Hoover Platinum Collection Linx Cordless Stick Vacuum.

A couple years ago, I got rid of my bagged vacuum in favor of a bagless model because I thought it would save me the cost and trouble of having to buy and replace bags. I was wrong. I have hated that bagless since I bought it. The bagless is very messy to clean. When you empty the dirt container, dirt and dust goes everywhere. The upper compartment and the multiple filters also need to be cleaned often. I have a cat and the cat hair was difficult to clean out due to static electricity. So, I gave away my perfectly usable Bissell bagless and I am back to a bagged cleaner, and I couldn't be happier.

The Hoover U5491900 Windtunnel Anniversary Bagged Upright is a very good vacuum, and it didn't cost an arm and a leg. It's not particularly heavier nor noisier than any other quality upright. It has great suction, edge cleaners, and the tools are easily accessible. There's a small amount of assembly which takes only about 5 minutes. The hose is a bit short, but it does come with two extension wands. You can also purchase a longer hose separately. My only complaint is the way the electrical cord gets in the way of the hose when you clip it to the recommended hook on the back.

I did have a bit of trouble with delivery, though not the fault of Amazon. The first vacuum arrived with a broken part, and Amazon quickly sent a replacement at no charge. The second arrived in a box that was in terrible condition. I expected the worst, but the vacuum was in good condition so I kept it, despite the fact that it appeared to have been repackaged. Some parts were not securely packed and the electrical cord was not neatly wound and tied.

Despite the problems I had, I highly recommend this vacuum.Get more detail about Hoover U5491900 Windtunnel Anniversary Bagged Upright Vacuum Cleaner.

I have had my Roomba for about a year now. My husband got it for me as a birthday gift last year. I have two large dogs and a cat, so the hair in my house was out of control. The Roomba now saves me tons of time in cleaning. We have laminate floors, area rugs and tile. The Roomba does well on all of them, but cleans tile only so-so. I empty the Roomba every other day. This takes about a minute, way less time than I would spend sweeping and vacuuming myself. It has the scheduler so it does all of the cleaning while we are at work. It is nice to come home to a clean house! We purchased our Roomba from Bed Bath and Beyond for $379. When you first purchase your Roomba, go to the irobot website and they have a link for a free replacement filter and side brush in case you have any problems. I just opened this little Shark and my first test was our stairs. We have 3 large dogs and 5 cats and I was amazed at how well it cleaned the stair carpet. I agree with a couple of reviews about the end of the roller brush being a little thick for the crevices on the stair, but I learned a trick from my previous hand vac. Get a wire pet brush from your local dollar store and quickly scrub the crevice at the base of each step. Use the vac to suck the hair off the brush and finish the step, it only takes a second and works great. I did our stairs in about 10 minutes where normally it too around 20 ore more. Ny only previous experience is with my Black&Decker 19.5 volt, which will suck paint of the wall, but without any type of agitator is useless for pet hair on carpet or fabric.

Another tip is to buy a cheap little waste basket to keep handy by the stairs or carry a grocery bag with you while you vacuum. Like all small hand vacs the bust bin is on the small side.Get more detail about Shark SV736K 15.6-Volt Cordless Handheld Vacuum Cleaner with Motorized Brush, Colors Vary.

I just purchased this from Amazon and chose the standard ground shipping. Much to my surprise, the next day, I received a shipment email stating that it was shipped via FedEx and would be at my house the following day. I thought - well, it may be coming FedEx, but probably ground and it would be a couple of days - but even so, that would be great as I wasn't expecting it to even ship for another 5 days or so. Well as stated in the confirmation email, the next day I came home and found it on the front door step. I couldn't be happier about the shipping.

I had been thinking about purchasing a steamvac and had done a little bit of research, but not a lot until two weeks ago. Sometimes men get these "wonderful" ideas. Well my man's wonderful idea was to put the bag of grapefruit in our closet since it was dark, cool and would prevent it from molding before he could eat it. Well I'm sure you know how this "idea" is going to end - badly. That bag of grapefruit got "buried" underneath some things and of course it rotted. For some strange reason, it didn't smell - but when it was discovered (weeks later), my tan carpet had a huge yellow, green, icky, moldy, wet spot on it. Luckily I was headed out the door so he had to deal with the initial clean up. But now it was imperative to get a cleaner and get it quickly (and books on organizing are obviously next). So I stepped up the research. My research showed that Hoover seemed to have great reviews and this site (http://www.consumersearch.com/carpet-cleaners) said that the 5914-900 was the best cleaner, but that this one - the 7411-900 was also in the top. So I did some more comparison and kept leaning towards the 7411 - but thought I shouldn't stray away from the 5914. Well I went to the Hoover site and downloaded both manuals and reviewed them side by side to really see the differences. I quickly found out that to use the hand tools on the 5914 you had to pretty much disassemble the cleaner, whereas, with the 7411, you just attached it to the top. It became a no-brainer for me at that point and I purchased the F7411-900.

Just before I used it, I thought, maybe I should take a picture of the stain and I thought no - there's no reason to. This stain is so bad, I'll just be happy if I get the mold up and stop the damage and was thankful that it wasn't in the "visible" part of the house. This stain looked like 50 dogs had urinated over and over in the same spot for a long period of time. I purchased the Hoover 40321130 Premium Pet Formula Carpet/Upholstery Detergent, 128-Ounce bottle but it turned out they didn't have it and canceled the order, so I ended up using the sample bottle that comes with the cleaner which I think is the deep cleansing if I remember correctly.

We turned on the cleaner and pushed it forward while pressing the button to release the soap and then pulled it back, still pressing the button to release the soap (as it said to do initially). As we pulled it back, it was sucking up what it had already put down and you could see the yellow come through the clear front. As we pulled it back and "exposed" the spot, I was shocked, it was much, much cleaner and almost gone. So we did a rinse cycle and dry cycle and then did the cleaning cycle again. The book says don't do more than 4 times in one area. If it takes more than that - let it dry and come back and do it again. But we didn't need to do it more than 4 times - it worked WONDERFULLY!! I really could not believe it, nor could he. We just knew the carpet was ruined in that one area. I have had Bissell cleaners in the past and they worked OK - but nothing like this. Granted it's been years since I had one and technology has changed - but still I can't imagine Chem-Dry doing any better. And it really does pull a lot of the water out of the carpet - the spot dried in no time.

I haven't used it on the rest of the carpet yet, but will this weekend. Although we just got it, I am very satisfied with it. I'm just kicking myself for not taking a before picture so that I could post a before and after - you just would not believe it.

For the price, I don't see how you can go wrong - you can't even get a professional to come clean 3 rooms for the price of this cleaner. Get more detail about Hoover F7411-900 SteamVac Dual V Widepath Carpet Cleaner with Powered Handheld Tool, Plum.

Hoover did right by this vacuum. My wife wanted a vacuum that was more lightweight than our old one. I researched and researched and decided on this one due to the price ($254.00), 6-year warranty, weight, simplicity, and excellent reviews.

Assembly only required sliding in the handle and inserting one screw. It's quiet, relative to our old vacuum. A vacuum is still going to make some noise. The suction is very powerful and you can really get into corners and against walls. Also, it lays very low so you can get under beds, etc.

We looked inside the bag after only going over one room and were amazed at what our old vaccum had missed. The bag is very big and a snap to change. We are very pleased and expect this to last us many, many years.Get more detail about Hoover UH30010COM Platinum Lightweight Bagged Upright Vacuum Cleaner with Canister.

After reading all the reviews on varius bagless, canister vacuums I decided on ths Hoover WindTunnel and I'm glad I did. It was a little embarrassing though using this vacuum right after my old bagged canister because the cup was almost full!
The only real change I'd recommend is to have a softer, more flexible hose because this one is pretty stiff and un-ruly. Other than that I love it.Get more detail about Hoover S3765-040 WindTunnel Electronic Bagless Canister Vacuum.

My Miele Cannister Vacuum still works as good today as it did 11 years ago and I love it. So one must have these bags if you want your vacuum working properly. Premium product and worth it. A box of bags usually lasts me about a year used to be two or more boxes when I had my dog.

From the looks of it this vacuum will still be working when I'm gone!! By the way have only taken the vac in for a maintenance check us twice in those 11 years.Get more detail about Miele Type F J M Hyclean Vacuum Cleaner Bags.

After reading many reviews I decided to buy this Bissell Steam Mop. It was a very good decision. As soon as I received it I put it together (which was incredibly easy), read through the brief instructions, and started using it. It works amazing! I was actually very surprised at how well it cleaned my floor (which is linoleum tile and also Italian ceramic). It worked wonders on both. Cleaning the pad was a breeze. I tossed it into my washing machine and it was ready for another cleaning. You do get two pads with this mop. This is my first steam mop so I cannot compare it to any others, but I am very pleased with this one and would recommend it to anyone.Get more detail about Bissell 1867-7 Steam Mop Hard-Floor Cleaner, Green Tea.

I was in the market for a new vacuum. My old one sucked the dirt in and spit it right back out. This one is a welcome change: powerful suction, great cleaning ability. I've not had it long enough to speak to the durability of the item but it really sucks up the dirt. One of my concerns is the design. Having to adjust the height at the bottom of the machine is not good for a home with hardwood floors and lots of heavy area rugs. The on/off switch is inconveniently located and the release mechanism foot pedal is inconveniently placed. Once all of those things are adjusted, it does what a vacuum is supposed to do. If I were older, smaller, or weaker, I might have trouble working with this machine. It is quite heavy. However, it does what needs doing in my house. I bought this unit mainly for removing wallpaper. It worked somewhat well for that. The directions state that you should score the wallpaper before steaming to allow the steam to get behind it. If you have a lot of wallpaper to remove, as I did, this step is very time consuming. However, I did try it initially because the wallpaper I was removing wouldn't come off with just the steamer alone. But I found that to score the wallpaper deep enough to allow steam to get behind it also scored the wall enough to damage it. I ended up peeling the printed layer off the wall first leaving the glue layer still on the wall. The steamer removes the glue layer flawlessly.

Other types of cleaning is hit and miss. The nylon brush attachment that comes with it won't hold up for long. I assume I'll need to order more fairly soon. I was surprised that it cleaned most stains on my carpet pretty well. Bathtub/shower stains, not so well.

I also found that the handle holder gets in the way of the water inlet and the wheels seem to be on the unit backwards as far as trying the pull the unit as you move around.

Overall, I'm glad that I purchased the unit. I'm sure I'll find other things that it will clean well. I paid $90 for the unit, but was disappointed to find it at Costco last week for $70. Get more detail about Wagner 905 1,500-Watt On-Demand Power Steamer and Cleaner.
