I bought this unit based on a very positive recommendation from a friend. If you have a dog or cat, this is the best $30 you will spend. I have a sofa with a synthetic suede material, which acts like superglue for dog hair. Also, my dog has very coarse, short hair, so many of her hairs had become embedded IN the fabic. This vacuum got every, and I mean EVERY hair out of my sofa. It succeeded where many other vacuums had failed.
