Amazing "sucking" power, but the extender cord that comes along with it is pretty dinky, flimsy, and short. It doesn't work very well without the cord/attachments. I owned 2 of these in 2 years and they both broke. Glad I bought a warranty. They both leaked like crazy. The second one broke the first time I used it. The switch broke right off. I still used it since it was stuck on wash. When the soap and water kept leaking I returned it and I am looking for a differnt company to use. First let me thank Amazon for getting this to me in less than 22 hours even though I selected free shipping! I bought it for the upholstery cleaning tool, never intending to use it on my carpet-really, but I did, and I love the results-for both! My pale suede furniture is sparkling and free of the coffee stain, (a crime I committed) and food stains, (crimes committed by teen boys). I read in another review that the carpeting stayed wet too long, but I find that this depends on the fibers in your carpeting, and room ventilation. My living room carpet was bare foot dry in 2 hours and yet the hall carpet stayed wet overnight. All & all for the cost of this machine it served me very well in its maiden voyage throughout my house! My husband and I are both completely in love with this steamer. We have never used it to clean, but we use it for fabrics all the time. We steam all the wrinkles out of our clothes, and it works great to get wrinkles out of curtains or bedskirts, too. You'll never have to wrestle with your iron and ironing board again!
This unit is better than a our previous steamer because it's easier to hold and maneuver, and you can refill the water reservoir without waiting on a cooldown period.
Quick tip though- if you buy this but you find that it's dripping water all over and soaking your clothes, you have the steam up too high. Just slide the lever towards the minus sign. Everything I am about to say is true:
So the product is expensive, but it likely may be the last shampooer you will ever need. It is a true commercial product that works very well.
However someone in my family has recently had a very poor experience with the Rug Doctor. Apparently, only 20 minutes or so prior to writing this review, an ambulance was sent to my sister's apartment. How does this relate to the Rug Doctor, you ask? The Rug Doctor was the culprit. Its large plastic body got in the way of my niece's footsteps, effectively causing her to trip and fall in an inconvenient manner. To make a short story shorter, one of her bones is sticking through her skin on her leg, and we hear it may be broken. Potentially worse is the possibility that the DHS may get involved.
On the other hand, the Rug Doctor cleaned up the resulting mess in a very impressive manner.
Lastly, my other sister doesn't like that the water tank fills up so fast--a larger tank would be appreciated. However, she does like the general product tremendously.

There's 3 dogs in the house and occasionally the big one doesn't get outside quick enough. The Shark(tm) SC 505 does a good job cleaning and sanitizing the floor.
I used the floor tool with bristle brush until I just broke it tonight,looking around for a replacement head.
It cleans almost the whole kitchen and makes quick work of the grease stains that occur during cooking on the stove.

The Bissell Little Green didn't remove the day old dog regurgitation (she did it in an inconspicuous spot). I manually cleaned most of the mess, so I just needed to clear the stain. I pretreated, scrubbed, applied plenty of soap, and scrubbed some more, sucking out as much liquid as I could. And repeated the process three to four times. The machine performed as specified but I still have a stain.
As I lifted the dirty water container from the machine towards the toilet bowl, the black rubber gasket, or whatever it is, fell out, spilling dirty water onto the bathroom floor.
I really wanted to like this product. I read many of the reviews here at Amazon. I was wary, but optimistic because there aren't any other options, other than a poorly rated, small Hoover appliance.
The true test of this machine is how it performs on a white carpet.

We had ours for almost two and a half years. It worked really great until a few months ago. It just seems it has lost its suction and is leaving more and more water in the carpet, which also means, leaving more and more dirt. However, I figure the cost of it is basically one commercial cleaning. We have animals and it has saved us several hundreds of dollars over the two years it worked good, not to mention, just keeping the carpets and furniture looking and smelling cleaner. I actually bought this product used. I love it for spot cleaning the carpet. It is lite and portable enough to use anytime there is a mess. It sure beats scrubbing the carpet on my hands and knees. I have tried it on larger areas and it did a great job the only "complaint" (and it's not really because I like how lite it is) was that I had to refill/dump it three times to do a small bedroom.

This product is AWFUL! Do not leave the cap on when storing it after several months of non-use. The cap will rust and become impossible to remove. I even tried channel lock pliers and spray lubricant! I called Customer Service and they want me to ship it back to them and charge me a repair fee. It worked great for us. After it is heated, spray it over a sink to let some of the water out. It did spray water on clothes sometimes, but it doesn't effect the look of the clothes once dry or the effectiveness of taking out the wrinkles. I could steam one days worth of my husband's & my work clothes with out refilling. I bought this for my wedding dress & took it on my honeymoon. It is a little heavy but I got used to it. Works best going from top to bottom moving at a slow rate. The only problem we had was a house guest screwed the lid on wrong & stripped the groves. Bring on the harsh, toxic chemicals!!!! They work!!! This doesn't!! I bought this product at Bed, Bath and Beyond (with an expired 20% off coupon, which they'll gladly accept) for about $34. Wanted to use it to clean grease from the stove, dishwasher detergent residue from the edge of my dishwasher and soap scum from the shower door. The Shark didn't work for any of these tasks. I then started trying to clean the countertops and sinks, to see if it would clean anything at all. Why not just use a rag soaked in warm water? This is just silly nonsense. What a rip!
