I owned 2 of these in 2 years and they both broke. Glad I bought a warranty. They both leaked like crazy. The second one broke the first time I used it. The switch broke right off. I still used it since it was stuck on wash. When the soap and water kept leaking I returned it and I am looking for a differnt company to use. First let me thank Amazon for getting this to me in less than 22 hours even though I selected free shipping! I bought it for the upholstery cleaning tool, never intending to use it on my carpet-really, but I did, and I love the results-for both! My pale suede furniture is sparkling and free of the coffee stain, (a crime I committed) and food stains, (crimes committed by teen boys). I read in another review that the carpeting stayed wet too long, but I find that this depends on the fibers in your carpeting, and room ventilation. My living room carpet was bare foot dry in 2 hours and yet the hall carpet stayed wet overnight. All & all for the cost of this machine it served me very well in its maiden voyage throughout my house! My husband and I are both completely in love with this steamer. We have never used it to clean, but we use it for fabrics all the time. We steam all the wrinkles out of our clothes, and it works great to get wrinkles out of curtains or bedskirts, too. You'll never have to wrestle with your iron and ironing board again!

So the product is expensive, but it likely may be the last shampooer you will ever need. It is a true commercial product that works very well.

However someone in my family has recently had a very poor experience with the Rug Doctor. Apparently, only 20 minutes or so prior to writing this review, an ambulance was sent to my sister's apartment. How does this relate to the Rug Doctor, you ask? The Rug Doctor was the culprit. Its large plastic body got in the way of my niece's footsteps, effectively causing her to trip and fall in an inconvenient manner. To make a short story shorter, one of her bones is sticking through her skin on her leg, and we hear it may be broken. Potentially worse is the possibility that the DHS may get involved.
On the other hand, the Rug Doctor cleaned up the resulting mess in a very impressive manner.

Lastly, my other sister doesn't like that the water tank fills up so fast--a larger tank would be appreciated. However, she does like the general product tremendously.

There's 3 dogs in the house and occasionally the big one doesn't get outside quick enough. The Shark(tm) SC 505 does a good job cleaning and sanitizing the floor.

The Bissell Little Green didn't remove the day old dog regurgitation (she did it in an inconspicuous spot). I manually cleaned most of the mess, so I just needed to clear the stain. I pretreated, scrubbed, applied plenty of soap, and scrubbed some more, sucking out as much liquid as I could. And repeated the process three to four times. The machine performed as specified but I still have a stain.

As I lifted the dirty water container from the machine towards the toilet bowl, the black rubber gasket, or whatever it is, fell out, spilling dirty water onto the bathroom floor.

I really wanted to like this product. I read many of the reviews here at Amazon. I was wary, but optimistic because there aren't any other options, other than a poorly rated, small Hoover appliance.

The true test of this machine is how it performs on a white carpet.

We had ours for almost two and a half years. It worked really great until a few months ago. It just seems it has lost its suction and is leaving more and more water in the carpet, which also means, leaving more and more dirt. However, I figure the cost of it is basically one commercial cleaning. We have animals and it has saved us several hundreds of dollars over the two years it worked good, not to mention, just keeping the carpets and furniture looking and smelling cleaner.
